It's been way too long since I have posted anything in this here sketch blog... I have been spending most of my time re-designing my portfolio website.

I needed to update the look of my site & put up a ton of new content before my upcoming quarter starts and I have way too many projects, taking up all of my spare time.

But - Im hoping I can continue to keep my sketchbook blog truckin' along... even posting some progress updates on my projects from class.

But for now... s'more travel sketches will have to do. I traveled over Thanksgiving, along with 30 million other people, and this lucky guy was who I drew during my wait in the airport. Fun stuff.

... continued to work on & develop my vRay lighting skills. interior lighting was a bit more difficult than exterior lighting - needing additional lights to help capture a nice, soft interior space.

sunny days seem to be relatively easy... I imagine a dark & cloudy day would be more difficult. maybe haunted house kind-of-vibe would be interesting to work on - new project?

...messing around with vray some more. I modeled, textured & lit this scene today - hoping to introduce a new material (glass) & changing up the render settings some what.

I've been testing out vray rendering in 3ds max the last two days... this is the render from my experiements. Not to bad for a quicky, 3d 'sketch'.

I've been checkin out (Mattias' blog)for the last 5 weeks or so... I dig his style, and I've got nothin but respect for anyone who pumps out as many sketches as he does.

Initially, I was merely inspired to go out, get a new sketchbook, and start sketching... but today something happened.

After reading today’s post, where Mattias said he was inspired to create his blog because of another illustrators blog (Stephane Kardos' - Stef's Sketches)... I have become even more inspired. Inspired in the same way that mattias was... to create a blog dedicated to my sketches.

So anyway - first post under way.

The other day I had to do some traveling - I took a train from the city (NYC) out to Long Island, on the way I was seated across from this girl who fell asleep. It was fairly bumpy on the train, but for a 15 minute sketch it turned out pretty well I think.

After I got the airport, about an hour early, I discovered my flight was delayed & I would have an additional hour to hang out... What to do other than sketch, so I drew 2 other passengers waiting for the same flight.
